Beverly Hegstrom-Bastian Obituary
Beverly Jane Hegstrom-Bastian, 89, Park Falls, died Saturday November 1, 2014 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls.
She was born on October 24, 1925, in Park Falls, the daughter of Godfred and Anne (Peterson) Hegstrom. Her early life and schooling were in Park Falls and later went to College at Wisconsin State University in Superior, where she earned a bachelors degree in music. She then moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, for many years and worked in the Oakfield school system for 35 years as a music teacher.
She was noted for extraordinary music productions. On July 15, 1950 she married Melvin P. Bastian at the First Congregational Church of Christ in Park Falls. In 1989 Beverly and Melvin moved back to Park Falls to retire, where she was very involved with the Zor Shrine Flambeau Clowns. She was also noted in Park Falls for singing radio commercials for Hegstrom Jewelers.
She is survived by one son, David Bastian of Fond du Lac; two grandsons, Matthew Bastian, Tyler Bastian both of Fond du Lac; one special friend, Connie Hicks of Fifield; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin in 1995; her daughter; Georgeann in 2008; three brothers, Richard, David and James.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Park Falls. Pastor Mary Jo Laabs will officiate.
A visitation will be held on Saturday November 8, 2014, at 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Interment will take place at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls.

I had "Miss Hegstrom" as a music teacher when she started teaching music in Fond du Lac, at Jefferson School - loved her as my teacher. Then my children were fortunate to have her as their music teacher, "Mrs. Bastian" in the Oakfield school district. She was such a kind, caring person. "Thank you Bev" for your wonderful contribution to the school music program!

To David and family,
I was fortunate to have your Mom as my music teacher throughout most of my school years at Oakfield. She was an amazing teacher - her Christmas programs were magical productions and she made every student feel like their part was the most important. She put her heart into each program and school play, not only with the musical portion, but also with the costumes, stage design and acting. There has not been another who could fill her shoes. Rest in peace, Mrs. Bastian.
