Formerly of Coal Point
Beloved husband of LINDA. Much loved father of JESSICA and STEPHANIE, and father-in-law of GEORGE. Grandfather of ELSIE, and ROWAN. Much loved son of ELAINE and MALCOLM (Dec'd) and brother of NEIL and their families. Son-in-law of PATRICIA and JAMES (Dec'd) and their families.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service to honour and celebrate the life of DR. JOHN HEARD at Christ Church Cathedral, Church Street, Newcastle on WEDNESDAY 24th April, 2019, commencing at 2pm.
LINDA and her family would like to invite you to bring a Red Rose to place with JOHN at the end of the service.
Please also consider a donation in memory of JOHN to the Epilepsy Foundation Australia. A donation box will be available at The Cathedral.

Dear John even to this day I cannot believe you have gone we had wonderful times over here in Scotland when you came over with my dearly loved cousin Linda can still see you with paintbrush in hand when we were converting a bedroom. The kindness you showed when Lorraine and I came to visit you took us round and showed us beautiful Quarrabolong. Miss you, when I found this page I had to add our memories from your loving family in Scotland god bless and big big hugs for you Linda we love you loads x

" Now what can I do for you today " - Dear John's favourite greeting, as I walked through the door, and immediately I would feel a great sense of calm, knowing that no matter what was wrong, he would come up with a solution, and he always did. We, who would wait hours to see 'Our Favourite Doctor', would smile as he hurried past us, in his white coat, on his way to reception to get another card, whistling that 'not quite anything tune'. "Your Next", he would whisper, and in a flash the long wait disappeared. I feel very fortunate to have had the ' Very Best of Caring' from both Dr.John and Dr.Linda for well over 20 years.

Dr. Linda and family, I only knew Dr. John Heard for about 12 months but in that time I found him to be a very caring doctor, and it took me a while to realise when he was joking or not, but in the end I could pick up on his jokes, I was shocked to hear of his passing, and wish to send my sympathies to his family. I found both him and his wife to be the best doctors I have ever had.

Dear Linda and Family, I'm so sorry for your loss. John was an amazing man and doctor. Dr Heard was my doctor for 12+ years during that time he never failed to make me laugh - he always had a great sense of humour and I always knew I was in great hands. Rest In Peace John, you will be missed.

John was a special man. The moment I met him at Kurri I knew he was a man I could trust. He was at me for over 12 months to give up smoking. I finally gave it away and was looking forward to telling him when the news came through he had passed. My sympathy goes out to Linda and girls. This is a very difficult time, but it was a beautiful funeral today.

I am so so sad to hear about Dr Johns passing, he was a beautiful man and caring doctor. My family and I were so happy that he and Linda came back to Newcastle at the Lake Rd practice. He was always happy and cheery, whistling and joking, he will be missed by so many.

The world has lost a truly gentle soul, he was compassionate, always listened and could put a smile on your face even when you where too sick to laugh.
