Therese Giguere Obituary

Therese L. Giguere, 91
BIDDEFORD - Therese L. Giguere, 91, a long-time resident of Biddeford, died Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Monarch Center in Saco. Therese was born and raised in Biddeford to Edouard and Aline Lambert Demeule on July 7, 1924. She graduated from Saint Andre High School. As a young woman she was an active member of the choir and played the church organ. Upon graduation she worked at Biddeford Box Company until she married Laurier Giguere in 1951.
As a homemaker she was an exceptional cook and seamstress mastering everything she undertook. Therese returned to work when her daughters entered high school, truly enjoying the years that she worked at W.T.Grant with her cousin, Rita Farley.
Her favorite hobby was bowling, which she continued to do weekly into her late 80's. Therese played an active role in her grandson Nathan's life and loved yearly visits from her other grandchildren, Kirsten and Erik, spoiling them as well as her own daughters with trips to the beach and cookies and sweets to last a lifetime. She remained active and independent even after the passing of her husband 'Jiggy' in 2009 after 58 years of marriage.
Terry enjoyed good health and lived in her home until the last year of her life. She leaves us all with many fond memories of her and will be sorely missed.
She was predeceased by her husband Laurier Giguere in 2009 and also by three sisters: Pauline Parish, Yvette Boutet, and Lorraine Boutet.
Therese is survived by daughters Diane and Mark Abrahamson of San Diego, Sue and Tom Gray of Biddeford, Michelle Giguere and Rodney Bean of Yellow Springs, Ohio; her siblings Jeanne Gelinas and Edward Demeule; grandchildren Nathan Scoville, Kirsten Bean and Erik Bean; as well as great- grandchildren Natalia and Francisco Bean Ramirez. Also surviving are many wonderful nieces and nephews who brought her so much joy and caring and love. They truly helped to make the last months of her life so much better for her.
Special thanks to Doctor Michael Festino, who cared for her most of her life, as well as all the fine caregivers at the Inn at Atlantic Heights and Kindred Assisted Living, where she spent her final months.
Visiting Hours will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel. To share condolences online, please visit www.HopeMemorial.com.

Therese was a good friend of our mom. Mom often talked about her and to her weekly on the phone and says they would laugh and laugh. I'm sure they're still laughing in heaven together right now. My condolences to her family.
