I now live in Gettysburg, PA. I was a police officer in Bklyn but lived in Floral Park. I would meet Gene at the scene of a fire. He was a gentlemen.

Captain Drum took on the task.

Eugene was a captain who worked with his men because he believed in them, and their capabilities.

There are people you meet in your lifetime that make a everlasting impression on you. I was lucky enough to have worked for him as a young Fireman and he treated me with respect. I was also smart enough to pay attention to his advice and lessons about work and just life in general. Today, I am saddened to hear the news of his passing. He was always positive and encouraging to me.
A very kind and gentle man.
A great man that I will always remember. Thank You Capt. Drum
God Bless You.

It was a great time, the years Gene and I spent together on Knickerbocker Avenue as Lieutenants while they burned Bushwick around us. A great fire officer, a good friend and a true gentleman.

I met Gene thru our mutual friend Bill Wira (Lt, FDNY). We were both residents of Floral Park. I was a police officer in the NYPD and on a number of occasions I would see Gene at the scene of fires in Brooklyn. Gene was a first class gentlemen.
