William was also predeceased by his stepmother, Mary Davis Morris, and his brother, John Morris.

William earned his Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM), and completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of MN. He was board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromuscular Medicine & OMM, the American Osteopathic Board of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the American Board of Holistic Medicine. Treating patients was one of William's great joys; his other great joy was teaching in Osteopathic medical education. A more complete history of his career can be found on the website of Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine, where William was the founding Chair of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine: http://www.campbell.edu/cusom/

He was actively involved with the ARE's prayer group and built many of the original buildings at the ARE's Camp in Rural Retreat, VA; he also planted the Camp's first organic garden.

William's family wishes to express deep gratitude to the dedicated physicians and staff at both Duke Cancer Center Cary and Transitions LifeCare (hospice) who cared for William through the final stages of his illness.

I also had the pleasure of working with Dr. Morris at ATSU-SOMA. He was an inspiration to many students during his time with us. I remember him fondly and am grateful to have worked with him to promote OMT and the mind, body, spirit philosophy to our medical students.

Dr. Morris was one of my professors at ATSU in Arizona and he was not only a phenomenal teacher but also a great mentor. I hope the amount of joy and knowledge he gave to his students brings peace to his family. Jen Hines
