Died on June 22nd, 2016 from complications due to Parkinson's disease.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 5, 1927, the youngest of three children born to William Arden Small and Elizabeth Foresman Small.
In 1939 her father purchased the Tucson Daily Citizen which necessitated their move to Tucson, Arizona. She attended public schools and graduated from Tucson Senior High in 1945. Then she attended Scripps College in Claremont, California and graduated with a B.A. in 1949. Subsequently she enrolled in Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, graduating as a Registered Occupational Therapist.
She then took a position at the Oakland Veterans Hospital. While living in San Francisco she met and married (1952) Lieutenant David Fellows Hart. After his Navy duty was over they moved to Long Beach, CA where David resumed his job with Shell Oil Company.
Their two children were born there - daughter Dana in 1953 and son John in 1955. Later David was transferred to head office in New York City and they located in Darien, CT where they lived (except for a two year period) for the next 30 years.
Peg was involved in her children's local school activities, the Episcopal Church, golf and as a volunteer (and later part time employee) at the Darien Red Cross.
After David retired they moved to Santa Barbara and owned a home in Birnam Wood Golf Club. They were active golfers, still active in the Episcopal Church and, after moving to Casa Dorinda, she volunteered at Cottage Hospital.
Surviving are her sister-in-law Susan Small, brother-in-law Gurnee Hart (Marjorie), daughter Dana (NYC) and son John (Rebecca) (Dublin, OH) and grandchildren Brian, Carolyn and Emily Hart. She was predeceased by her beloved husband David, her brother William A. Small and sister Elizabeth S. Wells.
A memorial service will be scheduled soon at All Saints Episcopal Church, Montecito. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a favorite charity.

Peg was always a a fun and lovely lady. Enjoyed our many times on the golf course and our activities at All Saints by the Sea.
She loved her family and David was the light of her life. It has been a privelege to have known her and spend happy times with her.
