JAMES DEVALCOURT Obituary

JAMES GARY DEVALCOURT III, age 32, passed away on August 4th, 2015, after blessing many with his courage, love, and kindness, during his 13 years with us after his unfortunate accident on July 23, 2002. He is survived by his father James Gary DeValcourt Jr., his mother Anisa St. Martin Haddad, his grandparents, James Gary DeValcourt Sr, Priscilla DeValcourt, his sisters Aimee DeValcourt and Ariana Haddad, his step-father Sammy Haddad, step-mother Kristie DeValcourt, as well as his step siblings, Reem Haddad, Hamsa Haddad, Alexis Arnold, Christian Lacy, his brother-in-law Corey Schiffer, his niece Talia Schiffer, and step nephew Cade Morris. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Herman St. Martin and Beverly St. Martin. James DeValcourt was a life-long resident of Slidell, LA. He was a graduate of Northshore High School, was a member of the wrestling team, and attended Southeastern University in Hammond. He loved being around his beloved family and friends, and he most enjoyed doing anything to make anyone smile. James's funeral service will take place Saturday, August 8th, 2015 at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church; 910 Crossgates Blvd. Slidell, LA. 70461. Visitation will be from 8:30 AM-12:00 PM with services to follow. In remembrance of James, please make any flower donations to St. Luke Catholic Church. Procession to follow services for burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, La. 70460. Arrangements by Honaker Funeral Home, Inc., Slidell, LA.

Anisa, Aimee, Gary, and family.. my heart aches for all of you. James was so special, even as a young child, always ready to help with anything, especially helping Anisa with the needy through the Good Sams ministry. After his accident, his body was injured, but not his remarkable spirit. When I first visited him, I thought that I would find a very sad, if not angry young man. Instead, I found James with a big smile on his face and determination to make the best of his life, no matter how limited his body was. He endured much in his young life. He has earned his angel wings and is flying high to his delight and I can just see that smile now. James, you are safely in the arms of Jesus and no harm can ever befall you again. So many people love you. May your joy give comfort to all that have remained behind.
