Mary DE KERGOMMEAUX Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen from Sep. 8 to Sep. 9, 2017.
DE KERGOMMEAUX, Mary Anne (née Carrières) Died peacefully and as strongly as she lived on August 28, 2017, with her husband, Duncan de Kergommeaux, by her side. She was born in Ottawa on October 29, 1947, the daughter of the late Marcel Carrières and Eleanor Carrières (O'Reilly). She is survived by siblings John, Kathleen, Sandra, Paul and Tom, stepchildren Davin, Drew and Laurie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and especially Joanna, with whom she had a very special bond. She grew up in Aylmer, Quebec, and attended the University of Ottawa, attaining a Bachelors degree in Commerce. She continued her studies at the Richard Ivy School of Business Administration at the University of Western Ontario at the Master's and Doctoral levels. She taught Finance and Management Accounting at Western for more than forty years. Witty, insightful and positive, she engaged enthusiastically with the world around her. She and her husband, Duncan, enjoyed a rich dialogue and companionship for nearly fifty years. She was a joy and privilege to know. Genuine thanks to the staff of May Court Hospice for their compassionate care. A memorial to Mary Anne will be held in the autumn.

We are so so sad about the passing of Mary Anne. We are so grateful that we were able to see her and Duncan when they were in Victoria. She also was so special to our children when we lived in London. We will think about her often and she will be in our hearts.

I will remember Mary Anne as having a wonderful sense of humour, a great and adventurous spirit (I see her swimming for hours in wet-suit), and above all, I loved her smile and warmth. She will be missed, my condolences to Duncan, her family and friends.
