Albert Libutti Obituary

LIBUTTI, ALBERT C. 71, passed away unexpectedly June 10th while doing what he loved, bicycling through the streets of Little Compton. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Born in Providence, Albert was the son of the late Luigi and Amelia (Manzo) Libutti; husband of Susan (Crosby) Libutti and the late Anita (Desiderato) Libutti; father of Deanna Goulazian, Gregg Libutti and his wife Lisa, Chris Libutti and his wife Kristen, James Libutti and Nicholas Libutti; grandfather of Adriana, Rebecca, Olivia, Emily, Max, Richard, Ava and Zachary; brother of Joanne Kent. Albert graduated from LaSalle Academy where he was an All-State football player. He was also a graduate of Brown University where he was a member of the football team and the Delta Phi Fraternity. He remained an active board member of the Brown Alumni Association. Albert was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 1969. He spent his professional career in the financial services industry. Albert's passion in life was his family. He cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. Whether he was watching them compete on sports fields and in hockey rinks, or teaching them valuable life lessons, he was an inspiration to all who knew him. Visitation will be held Friday, 4-7 p.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Funeral and burial with military honors in Swan Point Cemetery will be private. pontarellimarinofunerals.com

gregg, chris, and family,

I just googled your dad's phone number to chat and saw he passed on.
So sad for your family as it immediately struck me as a loss of being able to hear his voice and wonderful conversation and spirit.

May you all carry on with his tradition of being nice and upbeat-he had a nice way of making other people feel good about themselves
And I was gooing to ask him how his sons Gregg and Chris were doing, and knew it would it would bring a warm response.
best,
harlan shabshelowitz

Al and I went to PI together and were in the same Recruit Platoon (255). We both went to LaSalle, although he was a couple of years ahead of me. He was a great friend and a good Marine, we shared numerous 'adventures' together. Terribly sorry to hear of his passing, he will always be my 'brother' and I will see him again in another place and in another time.
God bless and Semper Fi brother!

Jane and I were crushed by the news of Al's passing. We attended back to back hockey games in Providence last January interrupted by a wonderful dining experience. We spoke just a week ago. I called him "Prince Albert" in the early years of our friendship, ironically, he treated so many others like royalty. Al truly loved and respected his fellow man.
Jane and I played the theme from Casablanca at our wedding. "As time goes by" was also a favorite of "Big Al" as I later called him. Al was larger than life yet so decent a human being.
Al set a high standard and made me proud to call him a friend.

Big all has passed from time into eternity and heaven welcomes it's new guest.

"People will forget what you said or did in your life, but they will never forget how you made them feel"... Al Libutti made me feel loved. He cared, he was encouraging, engaging and passionate. He had a zest for life and a deep love for his family and friends. And at the end of the day, isn't that what is it all about? Love... the love you receive and the love you give to others. He leaves an amazing legacy of love through his children and grandchildren and therefore the love lives on. My entire family will miss you so very much!
