Kent passed away suddenly on September 10, 2014. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed. He leaves those who survive him the comfort of knowing that he has died secure in God's love and trusting in the salvation purchased for him through Christ's suffering, death and resurrection and has now joined his Lord in eternal glory.
Kent was born March 12, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jack and Sue Lyon. He began his career in the printing industry under the tutelage of his father at Magazine Printing. He then worked for Heidelberg and 3M, as well as other companies. In the last few years many people knew and depended on him for his diverse and varied handyman skills.
He enjoyed serving the Lord by teaching Bible study classes and helping in many other areas at Christ Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his family, helping neighbors and friends, golfing, photography, travel and walking his dog, Rosie.
He is survived by his wife Patsy, his daughter Michelle (Allen) Broughton, grandchildren, Victoria, Cullen and Emma, his mother Sue, brother Richard (Bonnie), sisters Pam Freeman, Debbie Thiriot and many nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to his memorial service on Wednesday, September 17th, 11:00 am at Christ Lutheran Church, 240 East 5600 South, Murray, UT. Viewing will be at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S State Street, Murray, UT on Tuesday, September 16th from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Kent taught me a lot about Graphics and Graphic arts. I use a lot of what he taught me to this day. I enjoyed being around him. He was always pleasant and upbeat.

Kent and I were classmates at Olympus High School in SLC. Next year was going to be the 50th class reunion for our graduating class. He and his family were in the printing business, as were my husband and I and he was highly regarded and respected. Truly a loss for everyone.

Kent's gusto when he first greeted us after we had been away was always so heartfelt and joyous. What a generous man he was with his love and thoughtfulness. In the 28 years I knew Kent, I never saw him without a smile or concern for someone or something. He wanted our Church family to be the best we could be and he definitely led the charge no matter what the issue or event.
