John Splichal Obituary

SPLICHAL
John F. Splichal was born in Columbus, OH on February 19, 1954 to Johnny F. Splichal and Dolores Robertson and died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his sister, his fiancée and his niece, after a long battle with cancer, on May 14, 2014 in San Antonio, TX. He was a graduate of MacArthur High School and received a Political Science Degree from UTSA. John was a well known Real Estate Broker and Wholesale Lending Account Executive throughout South Texas. He was very proud of the educational accomplishments of his nieces and nephews. He loved to attend all of their school events, including their baseball games. In his free time he loved to spend time with family and friends boating at Canyon Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert Allen Splichal. Surviving are his son, James Splichal; granddaughter, Brooke Splichal; siblings, Paula Curry (Chris), Steve Splichal, Jimmy Splichal, Linda Selman; nieces and nephews, Krystle Garza, Chad Curry, Johnathan Curry, Karla Kosub-Coronado and David Kosub and his fiancée, Shawn Marnae Townsend. A Celebration of John's life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation on hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Serenity Mausoleum. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses from the Start Center and Vitas Innovative Healthcare, as well as John's friends, for all the loving care and support shown to them. John was one of the good guys walking around on this planet. We are all poorer for his loss.
Remember his quick wit and great (sometimes sly) smile? He was a guy who always got the joke, and probably before you did.
His ethics, integrity and knowledge, made us follow him from one Mortgage wholesaler to another.
Shawn, thank you again for bringing him down to see us last year. He was one of those rare people who made your day a little better, just by showing up.
