STEVE PASSMEN Obituary

January 25, 1923-
November 19, 2016

Steve was born and raised on farms close to Assiniboia and Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan.

He signed up in Regina in 1942 and served until 1946 with the Royal Canadian Engineers in France and Germany in World War II.

During his working life as a heavy equipment operator, foreman and member of the IUOE, he worked on road and other construction projects in Goose Bay Labrador; Revelstoke, B.C.; Vietnam; Couer D'Alene, Idaho; and on the Alaska Pipeline.

In retirement, he built a waterfront home for his wife Rose (nee Dolorosa-Skilton) in Anacortes, Washington.

An outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting along with playing cards and golf.

After the passing of his wife, he moved to Green Valley, Arizona for the warmer climate and great golfing. In 2012, he returned to the Lower Mainland to be close to family.

The youngest brother of 10 siblings, he is survived by his sisters, Bessie Tratch (Vancouver), Betty Baldwin (Ladner) and Violet Hall (and husband Wayman in Georgia); and many nieces and nephews.

A big thanks to the staff at RJ Kent Residences in Port Coquitlam for their caring support during the last 2 years of his life.

Thanks also to the Doctors and Staff at Eagle Ridge Hospital where he spent the last 3 months of his life.

A celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion 133 on the afternoon of January 28, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association of your choice.
