Dr. Norman Cassett

AGE: 94 • Vineland

Dr. Norman Cassett, 94, of Vineland, passed away Monday morning December 15, 2014. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Phillip & Ida Cassett. Norman was a World War II Veteran. He earned his Medical Degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Cassett started a private practice in Miami, Florida before moving his family to New Jersey. He worked for the State of New Jersey as a physician until his retirement. He was known for his work in geriatrics and mental health, treating patients as well as writing training modules and lecturing to fellow doctors and medical students. As a young man, Norman was an accomplished athlete, competing in both swimming and boxing. He was very knowledgeable in boxing history, world history and religion. He gave to numerous charities and always helped those in need, family and friends alike.

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Stewart) Cassett, son Alan Cassett, three daughters; Helene Miller, Donna Hemple and Heidi Tonetta, grandchildren; Anthony Tonetta, Jackie Mercurio, Carrie Mercurio, Jonathan Cassett, Cullen Cassett, Isla Cassett as well as great-grandchildren and nieces. Norman was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Cassett and grandson Phillip Frascella, brother Martin Cassett and his sister Ruthie Zelkind.

A Funeral Home Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 17 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm followed by a Funeral Service at 2:30pm at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. Burial will be in Alliance Cemetery, Norma, NJ. Donations in memory of Norman may be made to:
