Harold Garling Obituary
Harold F.
Harold F. Garling, age 89, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio's Perrysburg Care Center. He was born July 8, 1926, in Toledo to August Ernest and Mabel (Landwehr) Garling. Harold was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served aboard the USS Veritas. A hard-worker, he retired from the Jeep Corporation as a layout inspector following 44 years of employment. Harold was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 197 and a Union Steward for the UAW. A talented builder, he built his home in the Shoreland Community, as well as a cottage on Lake Leann. Harold was a caregiver to many throughout his life. He also enjoyed tending his garden.
Harold is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Garling; daughters, Lori Thomas, Tammy (Ed) Marckel, and Kelly (James) Konceny; sister, Doris (Bert) Cobb; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth McMillian and Nelda Garling, and brothers, Robert and Ralph Garling.
Family and friends may visit Saturday from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass for Harold following at 11:00 a.m. Services will conclude with Military Honors by the Northwood VFW Honor Guard. Arrangements entrusted to Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 419-476-9176.
