It's been almost 5 years that you have gone. I really miss you Allen. You are a true friend. Always been. I will never forget all those memories. Till this day, I still miss you my friend and you will never be forgotten. I still ask myself why so sudden? The only things that comes out are just tears and also those wonderful memories. Allen, you were like a brother to me. I miss you wherever you are in heaven.

A dear, kind, and very funny person. A very sharp and perceptive observer of the world. Could be astringently witty, but always unfailingly ethical and decent. Was devoted to Katzle the cat. Much of my early life in Washington is bound up with my memories of working for Transemantics, and this sorrowful news of Allen's passing brings down the curtain on that chapter of my life.

Allen's passing is truly sad news. I met Allen in the early 90's, first doing translation work for him and later spending long weekends at Transemantics helping them with computer issues. He was a warm hearted, very sensitive person, with a great wit and common sense. He was smart and insightful, personally and professionally. He helped me tremendously while I was a poor student going through college. I will truly miss him.

I was so so shocked to hear the bad news. I first met Allen when I worked as a free-lance translator for TranSemantics in the early 1990s. I was a busy (and poor) student, and didn't have a computer at home. So each time I had an assignment, I would have to go to TranSemantics' office on Connecticut Ave at night. Sure enough, Allen was there all the time to get me in. He would help me with my computer problems, and make sure that I had enough coffee for the long night. To me, the office was his home. I have never met anyone more dedicated to his work.
I remember Allen had two cats in the office. How he eluded the building management remains a mystery to me.
I had a family tragedy some years ago, Allen and Miss Wax helped me go through that very dark period in my life.
Allen was such a gentle and kind man. I'll miss him dearly. May peace be with him. And I hope this short message will help Allen's family pass this very dark period in their lives too.

I was shocked to hear about Allen's passing. We had done business for a number of years and then lost contact. I am not surprised that he was so fond of animals. He will be greatly missed.

I worked on many projects with Allen through TranSemantics. I am truly grateful to have had such a wonderful mentor. His commonsense advice and wit were always appreciated. Although I missed speaking with him after his career change, I was glad to know that he was able to do something that brought him such satisfaction. The loss of Allen is deeply felt by so many of us to whom knowing him was such a blessing.

I met Allen at TransSemantics back in the 90s. I was shocked and in disbelieve when I knew about Allen´s death. I have talked to him a couple months ago before coming down to Brasilia. It seemed to me he was doing okay. It is really sad to know that he passed away. Allen was a good guy, and I hope he rests in peace.

I met Allen several times over at TransSemantics during the 90s when I did some Italian revisions on site with him, back when I was starting in this profession.
I see from his obituary that he was very active in helping animals in need, a sign of a generous person who did his part to contribute to a better world.
My sincere condolances for your loss,

I will miss Allen, a business associate for many years. With me he was always a straight shooter, patient, resourceful, dedicated, smart and a lot of fun. I was truly blessed to have known him.

I made my weekly trip to Pet Needs today - I asked about Allen as I had heard he was in hospital. Sadly, I was told that he passed away. Truly, I was shocked. I was very fond of Allen, he was a good friend of mine and of my cats. Since my cats are one of the most important things in my life, Allen became a member of my circle.I will miss him and will think of him often. May he rest in peace.

Allen’s death is shocking by its suddenness and the loss that customers at Pet Pantry/Pet Needs are feeling. Allen was a truly good, kind and generous man who loved all kinds of animals. He remembered the name of pets, and would ask about them. He shared great advice on all the products sold at Pet Pantry, and information on local animal rescue organizations. He always remembered orders and was a conscientious employee. My sympathies to his family and many friends.

Allens' unexpected death is a shocking loss to the many friends he made through Pet Pantry/Pet Needs. Those of us who were his customers knew him as a tireless worker and highly compassionate human being who Always had time to talk to us-speaking his mind freely about Injustice he saw around him and living his life by example --sharing whatever he had with people And animals less fortunate. We were blessed more than we knew to have such a caring man in our midst and his passing will be felt further and longer than he might have imagined. Allen- Thank you for All you did for the animals- They miss you too!

What a fine man! What a sad loss. Nonetheless, thinking of Allen makes me smile. He was generous, dedicated, smart, wry.
