Robert Blaskowski Obituary

Blaskowski, Robert A.

Bob Blaskowski, age 51 of Appleton, passed away early on Monday morning, July 31, 2017. He had battled cancer and other health problems for a short time. Bob was born in Wausau on October 20, 1965, the son of Fritz and Jill (Bickford) Blaskowski. He graduated from Newman High School in Wausau, and received his bachelor's degree from UW-Eau Claire. His master's degree was earned at UW-Oshkosh.

Our son, husband, father, brother, and friend Bob lived every day to the fullest. Bob's greatest joys in life were his wife Kathy and his children Charlie and Gracie. Bob never met a stranger and welcomed anyone into his home. He was a teacher by profession but a mentor, confident and coach by choice. He loved his students and his many work wives. Bob coached middle school football and high school baseball, but what he loved most about coaching was the comradery. He treasured the learning aspects of sports…new skills, new friendships, new goals, and new achievements. He treasured his time reliving wins and losses with other coaches. He loved the Packers, Badgers and Brewers, and had to have good reason to miss a game. Bob loved music, especially rock and roll, and knew the name of artists, bands, song titles and lyrics, taking every opportunity for music trivia with kids and adults alike. Bob's downtime was spent by the pool with friends or the (Gulf Shores) beach with his wife and children - treasuring most of all the trip in April. Bob will be remembered most for his selfless desire to help others.

Bob is survived by his loving wife: Kathy Blaskowski of Appleton; his adoring children: Charlie and Gracie; his father: Fritz Blaskowski of Wausau; his sisters and brother: Julie (Mike) Kwarciany of Wausau, Tony Blaskowski of Wausau, and Mary (Pat) Metzinger of Wausau; and a former sister-in-law: Cathy Birkenmeier of Wausau. He is also survived by Kathy's parents: Robalmor and Judy Moore of Hartford; her five brothers and sisters: Karen (Tony) Algiers of Daphne, Alabama; Jeff (Kristy) Moore of Keller, Texas; Tom Moore of Shorewood; Joel Moore of Hartford; and Valerie (Chris) Bonney of Hartford. Bob also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, fellow teachers and coaches, former students, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jill Blaskowski.

The funeral liturgy for Bob will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary, OFM, Cap. officiating. Bob's family and friends are invited to join together to remember the good times on Thursday evening, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton, and again after the services on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Appleton North Football and Baseball programs are appreciated.

I am so sorry for your loss and for our loss. I worked with Bob for several years transitioning students from the middle to high school. He was so easy to work with and his great smile helped to put students and parents at ease in our sometimes stressful meetings. He was an authentic, compassionate and caring teacher who impacted many lives which helped to make the world a better place.

Kathy and family. No words can express how very sorry I am to hear about your husband's passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You have a whole lot of people who are here for you in love and support and for anything you need...me included. Do not be afraid to lean on others. May you feel God's comfort and strength.

My family sends sympathy!!! In our thoughts and prayers as well!! "Mr.B" as his students called him, was one of my teachers back in 2000-2002. I remember talking too much in class and I'm sure that drove him a little crazy. I remember really struggling with some of my math and Mr.B took out his own wallet pulled all his own money out and taught me (what kid doesn't understand that). To this day money and math make sense. I think of him when I shop for my family and finding best deals etc. He also taught me to do my own taxes by paper on his own time. Really nice guy to have as a teacher! I am sure you could talk to him about anything!!

To the Blaskowski Family, I am sorry for your loss. Mr.B as we all called him, was a great teacher and mentor. He helped me get through a lot of hardships in school. He had a great influence on my life in the decisions I made. I always think of the classes I had with him. Best thing I remember about him and I use it to this day is his little "saying" "Great Job, How'd you do it?" all because we would answer a question right in class. He was funny, smart, witty, and a blessing to know. Rest In Paradise Mr.B.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had the honor to work with Bob at Appleton West for 7 years and couldn't ask for a better colleague. Bob was a great guy.
I'm sorry but I will not be able to attend the visitation as I'll be out of town. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.
