Jo Ann & family, I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Curtis. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family.

Sending my condolences to JoAnn and the family. Gone but never forgotten. Love you he was like a uncle to me.

Jo Ann and family. I'm sorry for your loss of such a wonderful man. I've known him for a long time. From his days as a police officer at SIU to his delicious BBQ. You and Curtis were hard workers and Curtis was always smiling and loved conversation. I know he will be missed and pray for you and your family. His legacy will live on by all of those he touched in his life.

You have my sympathy, I am so sorry to hear of Curtis passing. I liked Curtis and you from the first time we met at the Williamson County Fair. At the time I owned Gib's Chuck Wagon. You take care of yourself and stay strong in this difficult time.

I knew Curtis in DTHS and after he retired. We drank coffee together at Emlings in DuQuoin.

Curtis Eugene's Obituary

Curtis Eugene Jackson, age 87, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 6:10 p.m. in the VA Medical Center, Marion, IL.

Curtis was born on June 11, 1930 in Chicago, IL, a son to Robert and Melvina (Keesee) Jackson. Curtis was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. On December 23, 1968, he married Jo Ann Myers in DuQuoin, IL and she survives. He was a police officer at Southern Illinois University for thirty years and then owned and operated Jackson’s BBQ for twenty-six years. Curtis was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL where he served as a deacon, the Illinois Police Association and the Perry County Sheriff’s Association. He enjoyed fishing, playing the organ for church, leading the choir and especially spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Jo Ann Jackson of Du Quoin, IL; two daughters, Tonya Buff of DuQuoin, IL and Debbie Jackson of Minneapolis, MN; one brother, Carl (Vicky) Sanders Jr. of Des Moines, IA; two sisters, Donna Woods of Des Moines, IA and Claudia Sanders of Atlanta, GA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Benita René Brown; and one son, Brian Jackson.

Funeral Services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Jesse Davis and Reverend Gary Darnell officiating. Interment will be held at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL. Military rites will be performed by the DuQuoin V.F.W. and American Legion.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
