Sharon Oppewall

Sharon Oppewall, age 75, passed into her heavenly home on Monday, September 22, 2025, after a brief illness. Sharon was born on March 25, 1950, in Bellingham, Washington, to Peter Jr. and Betty Weg. She was the oldest of six children. Sharon spent her childhood years on the family farm on Double Ditch Road. She attended Lynden Christian Schools, Class of 1968. Sharon was a loving homemaker. For many years she was an active member of New Life Fellowship church in Lynden. Her many hobbies included cake decorating, floral arranging and gardening to name a few. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marsha Miller and brother in law Glenn Bos. Sharon is survived by her children Cari Luna(Desi), Wayne Van Werven(Janet), Jacki Wilson(Michael), Ryan Oppewall(Lisa), Matthew Oppewall, Rebecca Wilson(Curtis). Her grandchildren Tessa Luna, Allison Luna(Danny), Kasey Carpenter(Brady), Raedean Van Werven, Charlotte Van Werven, EmmaRae Van Werven, Samuel Van Werven(Estela), Malachi Van Werven, Ender Van Werven, Kennedi Wilson, Presley Wilson(Jacob), Liam Wilson, Noah Oppewall, Treston Oppewall, Brylee Oppewall, Blake Oppewall and Jayden Oppewall. And her great-grandchildren Blayden Vander Meulen, Berkley Carpenter, Oakley Carpenter, Wynley Carpenter, and one more on the way! She is also survived by her 4 siblings Rick Weg(Carol), Jan Bos, Lonnie Postma(Brian) and Debra Luna(Daniel). As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sharon's family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Lynden Manor and the Christian Health Care Center, especially her RN Leah Maassen, for their generous time and affection spent with Mom over the last year. It was a blessing to us kids to know that Mom was truly being cared for by people who loved her. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 11am at Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden. Following with be a memorial service at New Life Church at 12:00pm Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
