Lorna Nieman Boehlke 96, of Murphy passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 23, 2025 with her family by her side. She was a native of Cedarburg, Wisconsin and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee where she received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Lorna began her career teaching in Milwaukee. After ten years she moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where she resumed her teaching career for the next thirty years until retiring at the age of 70. Lorna was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma teaching organization. She was a board member of the Children's Home Society of Florida and Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches. She attended and was a choir member of All Saints Lutheran Church. Lorna enjoyed painting and traveling but her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
She was the daughter of the late Arnold and Anne Nieman and wife of the late Raymond F. Boehlke who died April 11, 2015. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Charles Nieman.
Surviving are a daughter Lonna Tarnowski and husband, Dennis of Clemmons, North Carolina; one son, Lane A. Boehlke and wife, Liz of Franklin, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Tyler Tarnowski and wife, Rachel of High Point, North Carolina and Chris Tarnowski and wife, Olivia of Boone, North Carolina; also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Monday, September 29, 2025 in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Reverend Kevin Miller officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 1-1:45 pm Monday, September 29, 2025 prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Lorna Nieman Boehlke to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
