Tom P. Nickolson

Tom P. Nickolson, 83, of Murphy passed away Friday, October 24, 2025. He was native of Raleigh, NC but moved to Miami, FL with his family at a young age. Tom joined the United States Navy at the age of 18. He was part of the Bay of Pigs invasion being stationed on a submarine. He served on destroyer escorts for much of his Navy career.
Tom worked as a chef in the family restaurant; Jack's Drive-in and Parker House both in Miami, FL while attending college. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University. Tom then began a long career in air conditioning with Carrier. He later established ICE Air Conditioning in Jupiter, FL which he owned and operated until retiring and moving to Murphy in the early 2000s. In Murphy, Tom earned a real estate license and worked in that field for roughly 10 years.
Tom restored a 1952 Ford Truck which he won several awards for. He restored an old Pontiac which he called his "Gangster Car". He was a devoted member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.
He was the son of the late Nickolas "Nick" and Anastacia "Tess" Miras Nickolson and husband of the late Gloria Nickolson who died May 23, 2022.
Surviving are two sons; Nicholas Nickolson and Jason Nickolson both of Jupiter, FL; and one sister; Barbara Langley and husband Richard "Allen" of St. Augustine, FL.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 1, 2025 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church Cemetery with the Father James Blomeley officiating.
