Doris Susich Obituary

Doris J. Susich, a lifetime resident of Lodi, CA passed away on October 14, 2010 at the age of 82 after a two year battle with cancer. She was born Doris J. Funk in Lodi on February 18, 1928 the second oldest of 11 children. Doris graduated from Mercy college of Nursing in Sacramento as a Registered Nurse in December 1947 and worked at St. Joseph's Medical Center for 30 years, retiring in 1993. She was married to Jack Susich.
Doris loved working in the garden, especially caring for her roses, and playing Scrabble with her family; she also enjoyed traveling and going for long walks. She was a caring and loving mother, sister, daughter, nurse and friend, who always put others before herself and had a positive outlook on life. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by a baby daughter Doris, her father and mother, Joseph and Ida Funk, her brothers Milton Funk and Charles Funk and ex husband Jack Susich.
Doris is survived by her son Matthew Susich of Lodi, son Robert Susich of Lodi, daughter Jean (Jack) Golla of Carson City, Nevada and daughter Jacki (Brian) McQueen of Lodi; Brothers John Funk of Downieville, James (Sandi) Funk of Lodi; George (Diane) Funk of Lodi; Dan (Karen) Funk of Lodi and Ted (Ann) Funk of Madera; Sisters Mary (Jim) Girdner of North Carolina; Lois (Joe) Medrano of Stockton and Helen (Edgar) Beoshanz of Woodbridge; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service and Mass on Tuesday, October 26th at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Lodi at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Medical Center - Cancer Center in her honor; donations may also be made on line at StJosepsCares.org.
