Johannes "Joe" Broekhof

1927 - 2010

Johannes (Joe) Broekhof, of Lodi, passed away peacefully in his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Haarlem, The Netherlands, the youngest of nine children. He met his wife, Johanna (Hannie), married, & immigrated to Lodi for a better life in 1953. He always said, if you worked hard, you could get ahead in America. He had a dream, & fulfilled that dream. Joe was a man of character & honesty, true to his principles, never compromising. Although Joe became a grape grower later in life, & had his love for wine, he was a dairyman at heart. He loved his wife & he loved his home, & he enjoyed entertaining his family & friends there. He was involved in various charitable organizations, enjoyed classical music, old movies, good books, college football, & conversation with friends. Joe is survived by his wife Hannie, of 57 years, his sister, Jannie, of The Netherlands, & nieces & nephews, also of The Netherlands.
With heartfelt appreciation, Hannie and her family would like to acknowledge the patience and kindness they received from their caregivers, Sadie & Merly.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church 215 W. Walnut St, Lodi, Ca.
