Junior Garecht Obituary

Junior Theodore (Ted) Garecht, age 79, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2010. Ted was born on April 7, 1931 in Richardton, North Dakota to George and Angeline Garecht. He loved to talk and always had a joke to share or a story to tell from his Navy days. He was well known at local restaurants where he enjoyed drinking coffee and visiting with everyone who came by.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents: George and Angeline Garecht, his two sisters: Aurelia and Mary and his younger brother Jim. Ted is survived by his wife Kathy, brother George, five daughters: Nancy, Karen, Linda, Kim, Cindy and son Ralph.
As a young man Ted joined the Navy and spent four years serving his country working on battleships. After leaving the Navy he worked as a glazier. He spent many years working for the Lodi School District repairing and replacing windows. He enjoyed working during school days so he could talk with the students who were curious about what he was doing.
Ted was a member of Century Assembly of God church. He was active in making a difference in the lives of children by working in the bus ministry for many years. He loved serving as an usher because he got to talk with so many people. Ted loved to go fishing. Ted not only caught lots of fish, he also ate his fair share of good seafood.
Open casket viewing will be held on December 8th, 2010 from 10:00 to 12:00 at Rocha's Mortuary, 215 South School Street, Lodi, CA., 209-368-5128. Grave side services begin at 1:30 and will be held at Lodi Memorial Park and Cemetery, 5750 East Pine Street, Lodi, CA., 209-333-7171. A memorial service at Century Assembly Church, 550 W. Century Blvd., Lodi, CA., 209-334-3225 starts at 3:00 and will be followed by refreshments.

Kathy - I am so sorry to hear of Ted's passing. He was always so positive, funny, encouraging, and had such a wonderful faith in God. Always had a good word to say that was uplifting and cheery - laughing and smiling. And I know he was a prayer warrior. Just a loving man. I have missed him and you in church. Praying for you during this sad time. Denise Guady-Hughes

We met Ted in 1972 at a prayer meeting at a home in Lodi. I had been saved only a week or so. He was so friendly and always had a great smile and sense of humor.

At church he went out of his way to say hello to everyone.

We all loved him and he WILL be missed by all.
