Paula Quinn Obituary

Paula M. Quinn Lowell native, formerly of Nashua; 57 GAITHERSBURG, MD Paula Marie (Jussaume) Quinn, 57, a longtime resident of Gaithersburg, MD, and former Lowell, MA and Nashua, NH resident, died Monday, September 29th, at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD. She was the beloved wife of Philip W. Quinn to whom she was married for 36 years. She was born in Lowell, on February 3, 1951, and was a beloved daughter of Paul A. and Arline T. (Carignan) Jussaume of Lowell. She received her early education in Lowell schools, was a graduate of Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, NH, and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Lowell State College 1972, now the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. Mrs. Quinn was employed as a special needs teacher by the Ivy Mount School in Potomac, MD. Additionally, she worked as an on call translator for French and Spanish speaking patients and their families at the National Institute of Health. An avid marathon runner, she participated in the Marine Corps Marathon in honor of her father who is a Marine veteran of World War II and who was waiting for her at the Iwo Jima Memorial. Active in her community, she was a volunteer in the children's playroom at the National Institute of Health, served the homeless shelter So Others Might Eat in Washington, DC and was an avid pro-life supporter. One of her most important and fulfilling missions in life was that she traveled frequently to Haiti at the Marion Austin Orphanage caring for children. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a son, Michael D. Quinn of Baltimore, MD; a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah A. and Brandon Sakal, of Hilton Head Island, SC; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert and Patricia Jussaume of Pelham, NH, Allen and Susan Jussaume of Lowell, and Paul Jr. and Joanne Jussaume of Dracut; a sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Samuel Patz of Brookline; a brother-in-law, Paul Quinn and his wife, Lynne of Pleasant Valley, NY; a dear sister-in-law, Carolyn Quinn of Millersville, MD; and several nieces and nephews: Adrianne Richard, Katherine Jussaume, Michelle Jussaume, Joseph Jussaume, Steven Jussaume, Nichole Jussaume, Allen Paul Jussaume, Robert Jussaume, Adam Jussaume, Eric Jussaume, Matthew Quinn, and Christopher Quinn. QUINN Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Friday from 4 until 8 PM. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday at 8 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 AM at St. Margaret Church, Lowell. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Hope for the Children of Haiti, 21 Cummings Park, Suite 278, Woburn, MA 01801.
