Brad Bufanda, an actor who played a recurring role in the much-loved television drama “Veronica Mars,” died in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, according to multiple news sources. He was 34.

Bufanda is best known for playing Felix Toombs, the right-hand man of motorcycle gang leader Weevil, in the critically-acclaimed TV series, “Veronica Mars.” The comedic drama followed the adventures of an ingenious and resourceful female detective, played by Kristen Bell, through high school and into college. Despite the young characters, many of the storylines dealt maturely with subjects like murder, sex, and drug use.

“I’m heartbroken to hear of Brad Bufanda’s passing. He did great work on Veronica Mars. My heart goes out to his family,” series creator Rob Thomas wrote on Twitter.

He was born Fred Joseph Bufanda III on May 4, 1983, in California. He got his start acting on television in the Thanksgiving episode of “Roseanne” in 1995. His first starring role was in the movie “Pocket Ninjas.” He appeared in episodes of “Days of Our Lives,” “General Hospital,” “CSI: Miami,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” and had a recurring role in the Cinemax series “Co-Ed Confidential.”

On the big screen, Bufanda costarred with Hillary Duff in the 2004 feature film “A Cinderella Story.”

In addition to acting, he had a passion for physical fitness. Bufanda played basketball at the collegiate level, according to his IMDb biography. More recently, his family told Legacy, he was considered one of the top spin cycle instructors in Los Angeles “because of his fun, challenging, motivating, and finely-tuned choreography to the most current music.”

Brad was honored at a memorial service attended by his family and friends from kindergarten, Little League baseball, elementary school, middle school, high school, basketball team, his TV and film directors, producer, costars, crew members, and friends from the fitness community.

“Brad is remembered by all for his generosity, his humor, his loyalty and kind spirit and for the way he always reached out in support of others,” his family told Legacy. He is survived by his loving mother, father, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins—“who will remember him always. Brad will forever be in their hearts.”
