Gary Dubin, an actor who had roles on "The Partridge Family" and in the movie "Jaws 2," died Oct. 8 of bone cancer, according to his sister. He was 57.
Dubin was a seasoned child actor when he began appearing as Punky Lazaar, a friend of Danny's, on the 1970s hit show "The Partridge Family." His character recurred in a number of episodes from 1971 to 1974. Before "The Partridge Family," Dubin had made appearances on television shows including "Family Affair," "Green Acres" and "Mod Squad," with his credits dating back to 1966.
Among Dubin's notable early roles was a voice acting stint as the pampered kitten Toulouse in Disney's 1970 animated film, "The Aristocats." He would return to the big screen in 1978 in "Jaws 2," playing Eddie Marchand, a teenager who was one of the giant shark's victims.
Dubin continued to act throughout the ’90s and until just a few years before his death. Among his later roles were appearances on "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "The District."
Dubin was born May 5, 1959, in Los Angeles. He is survived by his wife, Marietha. He also leaves a sister, Lori “Ellie” Dubin, who notified his fans of her beloved brother's death in a Facebook post. She also remembered the actor on her GoFundMe page.
“He was always one to tell funny jokes & good stories,” she wrote, “and loved to surround himself with his many friends & family. He was always kind, sentimental & generous to everyone & anyone.”
Lori Dubin said her brother’s funeral is scheduled for Oct. 24 in Los Angeles.
