Teenager's Final Act of Heroism

On March 21, 2014, just before a high school dance, sweethearts Mateus Moore and Mickayla Friend were walking along train tracks near their school in Marysville, California.

As they passed a youth baseball field, players and fans looked on in horror as a train sped toward the young couple. By the time Moore and Friend became aware of the train, there was just a split second to act.

Moore pushed Friend to safety, sparing her from the full impact of the train.

Friend was seriously injured and taken to the ICU. Moore, who was killed by the train, has been hailed as a hero, his final, selfless act saving the life of his girlfriend.
