Thanks Ben and Frances Hooks for the many doors and eyes you opened. Thank you for your dignity and endless faith in the One God and our people, especially young people.
Mrs. Hooks was employed at
Carver HS in south Memphis when I was in school. I would become a lawyer, and have always been grateful to the Hooks, Ben and Frances.

We Walk This Way But Once
We walk this way but once and we must make it count. It is no mystery to us that Benjamin Hooks made his presence here on earth count. It was a privilege to get to know Benjamin Hooks when I was child. As a member of the youth department of the NAACP we sat in AWE of the courageous men and women that were our fearless leaders.
To the family of Dr. Hooks we offer our sincere gratitude to you for allowing us to share your loved one over the years. Dr. Benjamin Hooks will forever reign as a true American Hero to us all. He is now reunited with his loved ones and with those other warriors that have gone on before. I am so grateful that Dr. Hooks lived a long life and was able to enjoy some of the fruits of his labor as well as the fruits of the labor of his renowned predecessors.
We thank God for Dr. Hooks and in his honor we will march on keeping the dream alive until we are all reunited in that, “Sweet Bye and Bye”; where everyday will be Sunday and Sabbath will have no end. We will meet him again somewhere up there in the air, but we know not when for we have miles yet to travel before we sleep and until then we will make our life here on earth count knowing that we to only walk this way once.

My condolences go out to the surviving family members and close friends of Mr. Benjamin Hooks.
No doubt, his championship of the poor, underprivileged, as well as minorities made you all extremely proud.
I hope that it will bring you a measure of comfort and joy to know that God extends a ressurrection hope for those dear and cherished ones who have fallen asleep in death.
Not just a bringing back to life in the conditions of injustice we face today, but a bringing back to life in a world where no partiality will be seen and everyone will have their needs met - physical, spirtual, mentally, and emotionally. (John 5:28, 29, Rev. 21:3,4)
This is a promise we can put stock in since God's word promises us - "And they will actually sit, each one under his vine and under his fig tree, and there will be no one makinge them tremble; for the very mouth of Jehovah of armies has spoken it." - Micah 4:4

I just want the Hooks family to know we love them and pray for MRs. Hooks and the days to come. Rev. Hooks was more to me than a great brillant speaker and great fighter for civil rights and so many other accomplishments. But to me was just a simple down to earth man that had the Love of God in him and he loved to share God with whom ever he met. He was like a quiet storm that came alive through the power of God. I was baptized by Rev. Hooks and quided in this spiritual walk at an early age. He was an humble passionate man who knew from which his power and strength came from. He had a strong loving supportive help in Mrs. Hooks as he walked the path God set before him. My mom who gone on before him Mrs. Doris Kennedy always admire his ability to walk and talk to all people on any level and show the love of God to all. She Said that is how he is able to do all the things he does because God was always put first. He was like a dad to me and he made a great impact on my life as a child and an adult. My daughter Christna called her God Daddy for life. Most of all out of all of his accomplisments he was most proud of beinng a child of God being called by God to carry the word to all nations. My family will never forget him.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your lost. Many wonder 'What happens to us when we die?' Perhaps you have too. Of course, God's Word the bible tells us exactly what happens at Ecclesiates 9:5. But what does this mean? Find out at Psalm 146:3,4.
