Mary Canfield Obituary
Her daughter, Phoebe Alexiades, says Canfield died of lung cancer on Saturday at a hospice in the California coastal town of Santa Barbara.

Canfield had appearances on a number of TV shows during a four-decade career, including "General Hospital" and "The Hathaways." She was Harriet Kravitz on four episodes of the 1960s series "Bewitched."
But she was best known for her role of Ralph Monroe in some 40 episodes of "Green Acres," which ran from 1965 to 1971.
Monroe greeted folks in the town of Hooterville with a cheery "howdy doody," wore painters' overalls and was forever working on the Douglas family's bedroom with her brother, Alf.

When I saw on MeTV that Ms. Canfield had died, I remembered her just like that. Gotta' give her credit; she lived life to the full. RIP

Our deepest sympathy to the Canfield family during this time of sorrow; so thankful to Mary for the joy she brought into our lives through her various characters on the television. If you will for a few minutes just imagine Mary in Paradise. Each morning, she awakes feeling rested and eager to begin her day. She has no aches or pains. Any infirmities she once had are gone. All her senses--sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste function perfectly. Her energy is abundant, her work is enjoyable, her friends are many, and all her worries are gone. Such will be the blessings she can enjoy under God's Kingdom (Government). What a grand reunion that will be!

Thank you for some great, pleasant memories of my favorite TV show of all time: Green Acres. Nothing can hold a candle to the fine writing and acting on that program. Ralph and Alf, Mr. Haney, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Ziffle and their "son" Arnold are characters I will never forget. I laughed until I cried, and I still do when I think of that wonderful show. I remember the "Andy Griffith" episode she was in. She played Thelma Lou's cousin and the characters name was Mary Grace. She looked a lot different from her Green Acres part, she was not exactly a ravishing beauty, but she was still pretty in her own right. In that episode Gomer sure liked her. He said to Andy and Barney "she's fine, she's real fine". Rest in Peace Mary Grace.

My favorite "Andy Griffith Show" episode is the one with Mary Grace playing Thelma Lou's cousin, when Andy & Barney set her up on a date with Gomer. We grew up watching the "silly" shows on CBS like "Gilligan's Island," Green Acres," it's offshoot "Petticoat Junction" and "The Beverly Hillbillies." "Acres" was a family favorite, and my Dad especially loved Ralph, the Ziffles, and Mr. Haney. Mary threw herself into all her roles with a comedic that stole her scenes and guaranteed great laughs. Sleep well, sweetheart, and thanks for making my usually taciturn Dad laugh himself silly.
