Richard Dossett Obituary

Richard Lorance Dossett, "Froggy/Frog," was born on Oct. 29, 1935, in Yakima, Wash., to the Rev. Lorance and Frances (Fairbanks) Dossett. He left us on July 31, 2015, due to an accident the previous day. After graduating from high school, Richard served in the U.S. Navy. After fulfilling his military duty, he returned home and attended the University of Puget Sound, majoring in vocal music. Richard was very active in community theater in Tacoma, Wash. While performing in the play "Picnic," he met Judy Jackson. They married on May 17, 1964, spent an amazing 51 years together and had two sons, Erik and Ian. They moved around the state while Judy completed her college degree in education. Subsequently, Dick and Judy moved to Alaska. Richard was greatly admired in Anchorage, Alaska, as popular radio/TV personality, C.W. Frog or Froggy. With his love of acting, he was very involved, along with his wife, Judy, in the community theater in Anchorage, Palmer and Wasilla, Alaska, where they were featured in many roles, both dramatic and musical. Some of the most memorable being the Cowardly Lion, Daddy Warbucks and Scrooge, and the most memorable playing opposite of his wife in "I do, I do." Eventually, Dick and Judy moved back to Washington state and settled in Montesano, where he lived and did more acting and singing until now. He is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Erik (Kristin) of Wasilla, Alaska, and Ian (Amy) of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Courtney, Catelyn and Keegan Dossett; brother, Paul Dossett of Friday Harbor, Wash.; and his sister, Zoanne Wilkie of Hoquiam, Wash. A memorial was held on Aug. 5, 2015, at Montesano United Methodist Church, 401 E Spruce Ave., Montesano, WA 98563. Any donations can be sent to the church. We will miss his beautiful tenor voice as well as his delightful (and offbeat) sense of humor. One thing he would want everyone to know about him - he would want you to hear him sing.

What a great man! I enjoyed working with Dick in the late 70's at KANC. His wit, his presence in a room, and his stage name "C.W. Frog" were all Dick Dossett. Condolences to the family on your loss.
