Dear Lou,

Sue and I wanted to tell you and your family of our concern and sympathy upon learning of Jewel’s death. After meeting her at last summer’s OCHER retreat, we felt we’d found true friends in both of you, and we so appreciated the plants Jewel sent back with us. As I told you earlier this spring, at least two of them are thriving and the third is probably hanging in and may get going soon.

We will be making a donation to the Hospice in Jewel’s name and we will miss her and the visits we had in mind—taking the two of you around to the Hocking River Commissions properties and to our own Ohio River place. We hope you will still be able to join us for such a trip one of these days.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you. We will see you soon.
