Chieh Ouyang Obituary

Chieh Ouyang
December 30, 1913 - January 30, 2013
Resident of San Jose
Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on January 30th, surrounded by his family. Born on December 30th, 1913 in Hunan, China, he had reached the remarkable of 100 years in Chinese custom. He was the third of five children born to his father, Chen Ouyang and mother, Yu-Shar Chou Ouyang.
Mr. Ouyang was a pilot, having been recruited to the Hunan Air Force Academy, and graduating in its premier class of 1934. He was trained to fly various types of military aircraft and served heroically as a fighter pilot in World War II. After the war, he served as an air force base commander and in many other administrative positions. He married Lina Pi Ouyang from Hunan in 1936, with whom he had five children. A few years after Lina Ouyang's death, he met and married Yen-Chuan Tu Ouyang in 1961. They moved to United States to be close to his children in the early 1970's and spent most of their retirement in San Jose. He was baptized into the Roman Catholic faith in 2009.
Mr. Ouyang is survived by his wife, Yen-Chuan Ouyang, his son Ming Ouyang (Ellen), his daughter Joan Ouyang (Raymond), Lily Ouyang (Robert), Jin Ouyang, Grace Ouyang (Stephen), his younger brother Shih Ouyang and his nephew, Chien-Hwa Hsu. He was loved by his five children, seven grand-children and six great-grand children. He will be remembered as a great storyteller; his war stories will be missed. He loved many things, but his greatest love and devotion was to his family. He will live in our hearts forever.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 12:30p.m at LIMA CAMPAGNA SUNNYVALE MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave., Sunnyvale. Mr. Ouyang will be buried at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Los Altos, CA. The family requests no flowers.
