CAROLYN PRIME Obituary

Carolyn I Prime
May 4, 1939 - June 8, 2020

OKLAHOMA CITY
Carolyn Irene Prime (born Carolyn Irene Shoemaker) passed away on June 8, 2020, in Oklahoma City, OK, surrounded by close family from Oklahoma, Washington, and Texas. She was 81.
Carolyn was born in Colorado Springs, CO on May 4, 1939, to Isaac and Enid Shoemaker. Carolyn's father ran the dairy at the Myron Stratton Home in Colorado Springs, and Carolyn's family lived on the premises. Carolyn's mother was a switchboard operator at the phone company.
Carolyn attended Harrison High School in Colorado Springs and graduated in 1957. From 1957 to 1961, she worked for the Colorado Springs Medical Center. She was married to Bob Van Duyn from 1961 until 1968. She worked for a doctor from 1961 to 1967, during which time she became a certified medical assistant. From 1967 until 1972, she managed three shopping centers.
Carolyn married the late Joe Bob Harrison and moved from Colorado Springs to Oklahoma City in 1972. Joe Bob died in 1982. During that marriage, she was an active volunteer for civic and political organizations. Carolyn married Robert Prime in 1988, and became a loving "mom" to Rob's three children, Michael, Jeffrey, and Julie. Carolyn started her own bookkeeping business in Nichols Hills in 1985 and worked as a bookkeeper for numerous clients in various industries for over 30 years until her retirement. She loved to travel, cook, and spend time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Tuesday Book Club and an avid reader on her Kindle. She also loved M&Ms, flower gardening, and her two cats. Carolyn was exceptionally generous, loving, and kind. Carolyn was dearly loved by all who knew her.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sisters, Linda Austin and Elaine Schauf. Carolyn is survived by her sister, Ann Shoemaker; her nieces and nephews in Texas, Colorado, and Nevada; and by Rob's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
