July 13, 1936 -Sept. 23, 2012
MISHAWAKA - James John Feehly, 76, of Mishawaka, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012, from complications of Parkinson's disease. Jim was born July 13, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Francis and Teresa (Ward) Feehly. On July 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to the former Patricia Ann Sallows at Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Bend. Jim served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War era and was discharged honorably in 1959. Surviving are his wife, Pat Feehly of Mishawaka; and four daughters, Cathy Feehly of Indianapolis, Indiana, Maureen Miller of Mishawaka, Indiana, Bethany (Doug) Shearer of Mishawaka and Mary (Alex) Teo of Issaquah, Washington. Also surviving are five grandchildren, LeAnn Day, Mallory Washburn, Connor Shearer, Cole Shearer and Caleb Teo; along with four great-grandchildren, Brendan Weesner, Peyton Damp, Dominic Damp and Ryder Washburn. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Frances Rich of Abingdon, Maryland, and Cecilia Dimpfel of White Rock, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Jacobs, Nancy Will, John Feehly, Phillip Feehly and Paul Feehly. Visitation will be held from 4-7:30 pm Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Jim was a longtime member of The People of Praise group, and they will have a program and time of sharing beginning at 7:30, following visitation. There will also be one hour of calling prior to the 10:30 am Mass at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Thursday, September 27, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Jim was employed for many years at ASA in Elkhart where he was in the quality control department. He retired at the age of 65. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his garden, loved visiting the ocean, and caring for others. He volunteered his time as a Cub Master, at the Sunburst race in South Bend, and at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the People of Praise, and the Christians in Commerce. A longtime member of the Queen of Peace Church, Jim taught CCD for ten years, and was a Eucharistic Minister and Proclaimer of the Word. The Feehly family would like to thank Golden Living Center in Mishawaka, the Milton Adult Day Care, the U.S. Veterans Administration, REAL Services, and all of their friends and family for the care and support given throughout Jim's time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the People of Praise, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, or to Heartland Hospice. Pat hang in there hon, we all belong where God puts us. He calls on His best people to do the hardest things and right now you have to know that you and Jim have been such an excellent example of what Catholic couples should be. Those of us that you have inspired are in your debt, and you and your family will remain in our prayers.

A gentle quiet soul now resides in Heaven! Even though I know Jim is in a far better place, I still will miss his smile, his laugh, and his warm hugs. May God's loving arms be known to all at this time of sorrow.

Pat and family,
I was sorry to hear of Jim's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. I remember Jim from our Cub Scout days. He was a great leader for the boys and those of us parents helping out. Sincerely, Ginny Wery
