Marcie Tolerico-Burkitt Obituary

Marcie (Anne Marcel) Tolerico-Burkitt died Sept. 14, 2016 in King of Prussia, after the fight of her life against inflammatory breast cancer.

She was the much loved daughter of Sharon Calautti and the late Frederick F. Tolerico Sr. Originally from Carbondale, she lived in Western Pennsylvania, Northern and Southern California and in King of Prussia, where she's lived with her two sons for the past 10 years.

Marcie will be remembered for her warmth, beautiful smile and sense of humor, which made being around her a fun and enjoyable experience. Her family was everything to her. Her boys, Douglas and Alec, were the love of her life and her pride and joy. The love of her "boys," her brothers and mother were all that mattered to Marcie.

She was always happiest preparing elaborate meals for friends and family, and riding in her car, especially with the top down. She also loved to read, travel and was an avid Elvis fan.

Surviving are her sons, Douglas and Alexander Burkitt, King of Prussia; mother, Sharon Calautti, Carbondale; brother, Frederick F. Tolerico Jr. and his beautiful wife, Laurie, Carbondale; brother, Stephen Tolerico and his beautiful wife, Stephanie, Clarks Summit; her aunt, Bernadette Imperiale, Carbondale; cousin, Christopher Imperiale and his beautiful wife, Amanda, Carbondale. Also surviving are nieces, Kristi Tolerico and Gabrielle Tolerico; and nephews, Frederick F. Tolerico III, Dominic Tolerico, Stefan Marcel Tolerico and Anthony Carmine Imperiale.

Marcie was very grateful to her ex-husband, Gordon Burkitt, for always being there, especially during the most difficult last moments in her life. She was most grateful to Gordie for giving her what she cherished most, her two beloved sons.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Massimo Cristofanilli, Dr. Laura Austin and all the staff of Jefferson Kimmel Cancer Center, especially Lora Rhodes, as well as Pam Murray of Sweet Home Healthcare, and the staff of Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burkitt College Fund, set up for her sons, Douglas and Alexander Burkitt. Mail donations care of Burkitt College Fund, 539 Gladiola Drive, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.

I am so saddened to read of Marcie's passing. I extend my deepest condolences to Sharon, Freddie, Stephen and Gordon. I will always remember her as the vibrant and caring woman that she was. No matter the number of years that went by, it was always as if we had only parted for a few days. We lost contact for many years, but I'm certain if we met tomorrow, it would be as if we never parted. God Bless you my dear friend. I love you. Bake
