GEORGE PRITTS Obituary


GEORGE W. PRITTS,JR.  
Passed away on December 13, 2014 of heart failure at Inova Hospital, Alexandria, VA. He was residing in Alexandria at the time. George was born on August 8,1929 in Cumberland, MD. He lived in Kitzmiller, MD before moving to Havre de Grace, MD, he graduated from high school there in 1947. He graduated from Drexel University and after two years in the U.S. Marine Corps, he graduated from Temple University School of Law and attended New York University for his Masters Degree in Tax Law. George worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a Senior Corporate Tax Advisor before joining Massey Ferguson Corporation as their Comptroller. He left there to become a member of the staff of Sen. Paul Fannin of Arizona. When Sen. Fannin retired, he joined the staff of Sen. David Durenberger from Minnesota as Minority Counsel to the Senate Finance Committee. After four years, he was appointed by Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah as Chief Counsel to the National Labor Relations Board and Director of the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Legislation. Upon retiring from the U.S. Senate, he joined Rockwell Corporation as Manager of Government Affairs.When he retired from Rockwell, he enjoyed two of his favorite pastimes, hunting and fly fishing. An avid life-long sportsman, he was a three letter athlete in high school and a varsity lacrosse player at Drexel University. After finishing school he enjoyed playing squash and handball and excelled at tennis. George is survived by his former wife, Susan T. Pritts of Alexandria, VA; and two sons, George W. Pritts, III of Alexandria, VA and Andrew G. Pritts of Anchorage, AK; brother and sister-in-law, John and Sarah Pritts of Devon, PA. Donations in his memory may be made to the National Hospice Foundation, 1731 King St., Alexandria, VA 22314, 877-470-6432; Fairlington Presbyterian Church, 3846 King St., Alexandria, VA 22302, 703-931-7344 or charity of one's choice. Memorial Services will be annoucned at a later date.

He was a fine Marine. He was also my friend. We were both on the Havre de Grace high school football team 1946. He will be missed.
