Ann Reamer Obituary

Ann Beeler Reamer, age 84, died on Feb. 15, 2015, after a sudden brief illness. A loving mother, grandmother and friend, she was a blessing and a gift to all fortunate enough to have her in their lives. Ann was born in New York City to Albert C. and Jean (Ford) Schweizer on Dec. 18, 1930. After attending the University of Illinois in Chicago, she graduated from American University in Washington D.C. Ann then attended Yale University's graduate nursing program. Ann married William C. Beeler in 1956, and settled in California. Bill was the love of Ann's life and they were blessed with two children, Kristine and Keith. They thoroughly enjoyed their short time together; Bill died in 1961, just 10 months after Keith's birth. Ann arrived in Alaska in 1966, with her husband, Jerry E.C. Reamer. Ann fell in love with Alaska from the moment she stepped off the plane, embracing the life style and living here for the rest of her life. The family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1967, where Ann remained, in the same home, up until the time of her death. Ann loved being active and outdoors: biking, hiking, downhill skiing, swimming, kayaking, rollerblading and walking her cherished dogs. She was an accomplished photographer and an incredibly talented potter. She gave her beautiful pottery to the friends and family in her life. Ann's principal joy and accomplishment was being a mother and grandmother. According to her family, "She was the most loving mother I have ever known. Her greatest enjoyment in life came from her children and grandchildren being happy in their lives." Ann was especially close to her only sister, June, and was able to enjoy the last years of her life living with June in Arizona during the winters and with June living in Alaska during the summers. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Beeler; and her ex-husband, Jerry E.C. Reamer. Ann is survived by her daughter, Kristine (Tim) Moerlein; her son, Keith (Mary Ellen) Beeler; her grandchildren, Janelle Moerlein, Katie (Brad) Marden, Kendra Moerlein and her fiance, Harold McAllister, Michael Moerlein and Emma and Nolan Beeler; great-grandson, Renn Jackson Marden, born Feb. 4, 2015; her loving sister, June (Fred) Ebeling of Mesa, Ariz.; and her loyal dog, Coco. Ann's ashes will be interred at the Angelus Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, March 22, 2015. All friends are welcome to come and share memories of Ann. Please contact Keith at 764-3270 for further information. Memorial donations may be sent to Covenant House in Anchorage, Alaska. Arrangements were by the Anchorage Funeral Home & Crematory. Ann was a treasured friend. She embodied everything good in life and I will deeply miss her. Her son and daughter and their children are an integral part of all that I and many others value in our lives. Her reach was deep and wide. This is as good as life gets and as much as any of us could hope to possess. Like many, I have her pottery in my home, one piece that I look at daily and think of Ann. Much love to Kristine and Keith and all the family.

Kristen and Keith, I am sad to hear of your loss and treasure the moments that your mom shared with my family and I. Your mother was a beautiful lady with a heart of gold and a smile that lights a room. Take good care of yourselves and know that we are all lifting you up and remembering the good times we shared with you all.

Such a lovely lady. Always had a smile on her face. It was my good fortune to have known her and skied a few runs with her. My prayers for her family and loved ones. God bless her.

Kristine, I remember Ann and you fondly when you were both volunteer swimming teachers for my young patients at the Alaska Treatment Center. Later I met Ann again at UAA, where she was an amazing clay artist.
Your mother was the most caring woman and will be remembered always with love.
