Robert Cramblit

Robert C. Cramblit, 84, of Denmark, IA, passed away at 11:37 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Fort Madison Community Hospital. He was born on March 10, 1931 in Bonaparte, IA to Chester & Alice Holmes Cramblit. He married Mary Bernadette Hoenig on August 20, 1955 in West Point, IA. He retired from the Iowa State Penitentiary in 1991 with 38 ½ years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving in Hawaii and Germany. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Knights of Columbus and the Fort Madison Moose Lodge. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, sports, cars and visits with his children and grandchildren. Bob is survived by: his wife: Bernie Cramblit of Denmark, IA; 1-son: Gregory Cramblit of Owensboro, KY; 5-daughters: Susan Becker of Wever, IA, Janice Mendez of Des Moines, IA, Darcy (Paul) Myers of Kansas City, MO, Pamela (Kent) Schmitz of Nauvoo, IL & Connie (Keith) Schwartz of Sperry, IA; 18-grandchildren & 11-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents, 3-son in laws & 1 brother. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015 with a wake service to be held at 7:00 p.m. and a rosary to immediately follow at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be held in Gethsemane Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Birthright or the Emma Cornelius Hospitality House.
