BERNARD "BERNIE" J. BASTEK
AGE: 70 BRICK
Mr. Bernard "Bernie" J. Bastek, 70, of Brick died on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at home. Relatives and friends may call in the O'Brien Funeral Home 505 Burnt Tavern Rd. Brick on Wednesday from 4-8pm. Please visit www.obrienfuneralhome.com. The funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday at 9a.m. in St. Dominic's Church, Brick. The interment will follow in the William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
Bernie had been a omnibus operator for Ocean County before retiring. Prior to that he was employed by General Motors and ShopRite as an account manager. Born in the Bronx, Bernie lived in Jersey City until moving to Bricktown over 40 years ago. He served in the AirForce during peacetime. A member of the BPOE lodge # 2151 and the American Legion Post # 348, Bernie was also a 4th Degree Knight w/ the Msgr. John Baldwin Council #836 Knights of Columbus, all of Brick.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Mediz Bastek and his children, Christine Worth and Joseph Bastek and his wife, Alicia. Also surviving are his sister, MaryAnn Bastek and her husband, Richard Many.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Bernie's favorite charity: Capuchin Franciscans/Province of St. Mary 210 W. 31st St., NYC, NY 10001
