Caring, adventurous, immature, wise, loving, enthusiast, listener, coffee lover, science partner, bike buddy, cupcake tester, co-worker, all of which you were to me. But one that i could never forget is best friend. Eric Samuel Grodberg the memories of us doing stupid things will forever be alive in my life and so will our friendship. Rest easy buddy. I love you.

I just learned of Eric's passing. Eric was such a sweet, kind, funny individual and a wonderful writer. We discovered we both loved the novel "Jude the Obscure" while discussing literature at the Peculiar Pub in the Village back in the late 90s.

When he lived in the City (and I was still in NJ) I used to make jaunts to visit him while he worked at the coffee house DTUT. One time I had mentioned that I had never been to Coney Island and always wanted to go. He promptly organized a trip.

We dipped our feet in the water, took Polaroids of one another, walked the boards, ate Nathan's hot dogs, and played Skee Ball.

I am so profoundly sad. He was such a gentle, kind and funny soul. My deepest condolences to his mother, brother and girlfriend.

Eric had a way of always making people laugh. This was something I always treasured about him. He had a kind and generous heart, and filled any room with light when he entered it. We had countless conversations about music and writing that I will always hold dear. He was an incredibly loyal friend which is one of many reason why I always cherished him. I've been listening to U2 on repeat for days and thinking of you, Eric. Sending you so much love wherever you are, dear friend. My thoughts and love are with his family and friends. He was a true gem. Love and light xoxo

Bonnie,
We are so sorry to hear about Eric. Even though we did not know Eric well, everything I am hearing about him reminds me so much of George. I am sure the two of them are causing much havoc up there. We love you and are praying that God will comfort you and Scott.

To Eric's Family,
Thank you for sharing him. You know how excellent he was...and still is through memories and especially through the millions of words he wrote down here and there.
Eric,
i wish we could have "reconnected under weathered years" before this crap happened. Today, during your memorial service, I will be riding in a bike race. I will have you with me. I will finish and i will smile and I will shed a few tears and I will smile.
Until next time...

Eric was always the brightest part of my day when we worked together. His quick wit and sarcastic, dry humor always found a way to make me smile. Everyone who knew Eric loved him and will always miss him dearly. He was the kind of person that left a mark, no matter how long you knew him. In the year that I've had the joy of working with Eric- I know I will never find somebody as faithful and honest as he. It has been a true blessing to have known him, but I know now he is at peace in Heaven- drinking black coffee, riding his bike and reading psychological thrillers. My condolences to the Grodberg family, Allison, and all friends of Eric's.

Eric was by far the funniest man i have ever known. His jokes were the best, and i laughed every time. He left such a remarkable imprint on this world, and truely was a man of God. All though we miss his absence in this world, we re-joice that he is dancing on streets of gold in heaven, with his Father, George, and we all know the both of them are making Jesus laugh so hard right. Blessings to the Grodberg family. Remember that God is Love, and he will never forsake us.

Over the past few days, I have been amazed at just how many lives –E- has impacted but at the same time it should not come as any surprise. –E-, You could always make me smile on even the darkest of my days. That giddy, perpetual laugh of yours when combined with those soulful, kind, and twinkling eyes, gave me no choice but to be instantly happy. You were always protective and sensitive to the needs of everyone around you. I know that hidden behind your seemingly endless sarcasm and wit, you were a rock to your family and you always displayed unwavering loyalty to your friends. I cannot believe you are no longer on this earth, but it gives me comfort to know that we haven't lost You. This separation is only temporary and right now I imagine that you are insanely overwhelmed by the splendor of your surroundings and that the Rad descriptor has been busted out for quite a few things by now along with a joyful reunion with your Dad. Somewhere in the realm of eternity your trademark laugh and mischief are beginning once again, but with endless amounts of journaling and coffee breaks of heavenly proportions..All those bike rides must seem so pale in comparison to the journey you are now on. Thank you for being the best kind of a friend when I needed it most in my life. I am so sorry I did not keep in touch with you over the years..I will truly miss you ‘til we all meet up again some day.

Bon-Bon, Scott, and Allison ~ there are no words of comfort that i can offer. Please know Eric left and indelible imprint on my life. I am so grateful for the memories of him. It wasn't just his witty, wry sense of humor that was great but his love of family, faith in God, and loyalty to friends was awesome! Michelle B & i have this mind picture of Eric riding a bike in Heaven with George on the handlebars! I pray that your memories of Eric and the love of Jesus bring your family peace and strength. Jimmy and i love you all much.

Eric,

Its pretty insane that ur gone bro. hearing the news of your passing simply made, e sick to my stomach. it really did hurt. thinkin about it, I was never closely connected to you, but you were a greatly impressionable person. which makes epme hurt even more for the ppl who did know you very well, bc I'm sure u left a serious footprint on their lives. your sense of humor was one of a kind man, and u will seriously be remembered. I wish I would have gotten to know you more. I'm sure I will enjoy learning even more about you as the memory of you aslives on through your family and friends. I'm sure ur chilling with Jesus at the moment, which is defly cool, but I wonder if u ever couldve imagined the legacy you left down here, or the grief that would be so widespread among the ppl who knew you. I pray your family, Allison, and your friends find peace and an underlying joy in this time. "Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4
