Phyllis McGovern Obituary
AGE: 60 • North Middletown
Phyllis McGovern, 60, of North Middletown, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28th at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. She was born Phyllis Stanzione on August 13, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY, where she grew up. In 2005, Phyllis settled in North Middletown, with her husband James. Before retiring in 1990, Phyllis worked as a detective for the NYC Police Department.
She was predeceased by her parents, Dominick and Frances (Cardaci) Stanzione, her beloved husband, James McGovern, and her step daughter, Rachel McGovern. Phyllis is survived by her loving step children, Christopher McGovern, James McGovern and his wife Chrissy, Lauren McGovern, her dear brother, Joseph Stanzione and his wife Lucy, her cherished nieces and nephews, Bridget Willig and her husband Tim, Joseph B. Stanzione, Crystal Stanzione, Anthony Stanzione, her adored great nieces and nephews, Alexa Marino, Grace Marino, and Joseph B. Stanzione Jr., along with her beloved dogs, Heidi and Benny. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, July 1st from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM, and Tuesday morning, July 2nd, from 8:30 to 9:15 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3269 State Rt. 35 N., Hazlet. Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, July 2nd at The Church of St. Catherine Laboure' in North Middletown, 10 AM. Interment, Holmdel Cemetery in Holmdel. Memorial contributions in memory of Phyllis to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, would be appreciated.
