George Palko Obituary

George Palko, Sr.

AGE: 89 • Manville

Manville, NJ - George Palko, Sr., 89, entered into eternal life on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Bridgeway Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsborough, NJ. Born in Hillsborough, son of the late John and Anna (Sekela) Palko, he resided most of his life in Manville, Somerville and Hillsborough.

George faithfully served his country with the United States Coast Guard from 1942-1946 during World War II serving on a Destroyer Escort. He was the owner and operator of George's Sunoco in Somerville as well as a home builder in his earlier years and became a successful businessman; he was a "Jack of all trades and a master of most." George was a member of VFW Post #2290 in Manville and American Legion Post #304 in Manville; and was a parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Church) in Manville.

Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his beloved wife with whom he married on August 9, 1947, Helen (Milewski) Palko who died on March 22, 1993.

George is survived by three loving sons, George B. Palko, Jr. and his wife Carol, Michael S. Palko and his wife Debbie and Daniel G. Palko and his wife Nicki of Somerville. He will be deeply missed by six cherished grandchildren, Sheri Ann Heath and her husband David, Michelle Kehler and her husband Bryan, Daniel Palko, Jr. and his wife Karen, Gregory Palko, Michael Palko and Jennifer Palko; and six adored great-grandchildren, Autumn, Emily, Ryan, Brian, Victoria and Kaitlin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Monday, July 13 from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 14 from 8-8:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14 beginning 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Church) in Manville. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's name to the Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 North Michigan Avenue Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601. To send condolences to the family or sign an online guest book, please visit www.FucilloandWarrenFuneralHome.com.

Dear George, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. I just found out and missed the services. Your dad was a great guy and I knew you spend many good times with him travelling to PA. You were with him until the end. Truly a dedicated son.
