Martha Dunleavy Rothman passed away suddenly on October 19, 2016, in Ocala, Fl. She was the cherished wife of Martin S. Rothman, of Ocala, Fl.; loving mother of son, H. Michael Rothman, of Bridgeton, NJ, and daughter, Michelle (Missy) Rothman, of Watertown, MA.; devoted grandmother of H. Michael, II, Christopher, Nicholas, and Emily Rothman; sister of Margaret Dunleavy, of Tampa, Fl. and Michele (Dunleavy) McFadden and her husband, G. Michael, of Ormond-by-the-Sea, Fl.; sister-in-law of Teresa Dunleavy, of Melrose, Ma.; aunt to Kristine, Erin, Eileen, Lisa, and Meghan, and many great-nieces and nephews. She joins her parents, Joseph and Margaret Dunleavy, and her brother, Joseph Kevin Dunleavy.

Martha was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Drexel Hill, PA, where she attended Saint Dorothy for elementary school and Villa Maria Academy for high school, graduating in 1964. Martha attended Fordham University in NY, NY, earning her B.A. in history in 1968. Martha and Martin married in 1972, residing in New York City for many years. In 1982, they moved with their children to Marlboro, NJ, where they resided through 2004. Their next home was in Barnegat, NJ, where they resided through 2016, then moving to Ocala, Fl.

For many years, Martha worked at the Ranney School in Tinton Falls, NJ as a beloved secretary and soccer coach, and she later worked as a stockbroker on Wall Street with Martin. She attained a life-long dream in 2007, when she not only appeared on Jeopardy, she became a record-winning champion. Martha's vibrant spirit, knowledge, and wit, along with her love and devotion towards her family, friends and pet cats were unparalleled. She loved reading, playing games and singing along to her favorite oldies tunes.

Visiting hours on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at the Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Saint Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Rd., Drexel Hill, PA. Viewing at 9:30 AM, Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial in Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery.
