I met Tut when I was an assistant attorney general prosecuting environmental and wildlife/wild animal cases in the 80's. After confiscating a wolf hybrid who had escaped and tried to attack another dog, it was suggested that I ask Tut if she would care for the animal pending the court case. Well, we won the court case, although by that time, Tut had grown so attached to "Alaska" that I knew no one would be able to remove the lovely animal from Tut's care. And so my relationship with Tut began. Over the years, I brought my family to stay at her place many times, visited all her rescues, and she and I developed a friendship of mutual respect, awe (on my part)and many many discussions about the animals under her care.
She was a remarkable woman, one of a kind and I personally will miss her greatly.
My condolences to her family,
Sincerely,
Lee de Grazia
