When I think of my time at Grove City, I think about my room/suite mates through the years. I did enjoy Winney and learning about New York. Grace TeSelle

Dear Diane, We were very sorry to learn about your Mother’s passing. She was a wonderful and loving friend to my family and beloved friend to my grandparents - Lillian and Jerry. She was a beautiful, generous and caring person to my brothers and sisters. She left a great impression on me as a young girl - always a formidable, independent thinker and an accomplished hostess and chef du cuisine. I will always be grateful for her encouragement to follow my passion for learning French. We are reminded of the many beautiful holiday dinners she prepared, and the lively conversation we were fortunate to listen to as children at her table. Your Mother always had great style, and anytime I smell her signature parfum – I think of Mrs. Sinclair! She made a wonderful and truly lasting impression on all of us. We are thinking of you, and all the many fond memories of your Mom. With love, Christine Buck and the Blackburn/Buck Family

I am a former sorority sister and suite-mate of Wini at Grove City College. I just read her death notice in the GeDunk magazine. Wini was a year ahead of me and someone I looked up to - this farm girl from Western PA. It was fun to know her - she always seemed so exotic - so attractive and from Valley Stream NY. We enjoyed knowing handsome Dave through Wini. I, too, learned so much about her from her obit. We lost track after Dave graduated - we all cheered on Diane's birth. We moved to Gainesville Floride from Northern Virginia in 1992. My husband passed on the same day as Wini but in 2003. My condolences to the whole family. Love, Grace Hill TeSelle, class of 1945, Grove City College. ([email protected])

Diane, I just looked up your mother and found this notice. I was looking at a Website LeGrand Escargot, which has a Hall of Fame for French teachers. I submitted your mom's name. She instilled in me not just a love of language but a lifelong curiosity, love of learning, and a sense of justice. Now that I've read her obituary I realize how much I didn't know, but find even more admirable, about her. I'm sorry I didn't get to say this to her while she was still alive. She is one of the people who launched me in life, and I hope you can take comfort in yet another testimony to her spirit. For the record, I traveled around the world with the Agency for International Development and am now seriously considering teaching ESL when I retire. More important, I remember her as a touchstone of ethical behavior, which I hope I have also made a part of my life. My best to you, and belated condolences.

I was a new resident of Wheaton so I was a brand new student at Wheaton Central when Wini- always Mrs. Sinclair to me- was my first year French teacher. Even now, about fifty years later, I can still recite those first five conversational sentences she taught us on the first day of school in September as she role played them for us. "J'entre dans la salle de classe..."
Rest in Peace, Mrs. Sinclair, and enjoy only wonderful conversations en Francais in Heaven. My sympathies to my good friend and bridesmaid, Diane.

Diane and Family, May God Bless and Comfort you in your grief and sorrow.... I got to know your mother from being her hairdresser for many years... and I loved her so.....Then, I got to know your father, when he started bringing your mother to the salon... what a beautiful couple!!!! I had tried to contact you several times, but didn't know your last name, I lost touch with your parents after I retired, but thought of them often, few people leave such a beautiful impression in our lives, as they both did in mine...May they both rest in peace...

From Evan and Nell Mathis at Belmont Village, Atlanta
To Diane Sinclair Speyrer and Fred Speyrer
This evening daughter Nell Mathis Black called and told us that sweet Miss Winnie is at rest.
Wife Nell and I had not seen the obituary, but now on the Internet we found the beautiful tribute to her wonderful life. You are in our prayers, and we are blessed to have known Miss Winnie, Diane and Fred and observed the loving care given to her at Belmont Village by Diane , Fred, Sharon McCollough and others.
It was a pleasure, and sometimes a challenge, to get a smile from Miss Winnie when we saw her almost daily at Belmont after we arrived from St. Simons in 2007. Her beauty remained as she continued to be immaculately groomed.
We miss her, lovely Diane, friendly Fred and caring Sharon. All is well with us, but there is a void in our lives without contact with each of you.
Our love to each. Nell and Evan Mathis
