Family-Placed Death Notice

JONES, III, Bolling BOLLING JONES, III Born in Atlanta, GA, on Nov. 3, 1920 Departed Sept. 26, 2011 Bolling Jones, III, age 90, died peacefully on September 26, 2011. Mr. Jones, born on November 3, 1920 in Atlanta, Georgia, was the son of Bolling Jones, Jr. and Dorothy Hodgson Jones. In May of 1944 Mr. Jones married his college sweetheart, Constance Balfour of Thomasville, Georgia. Mr. Jones was a resident of Thomasville since 1948. Mr. Jones graduated as the valedictorian from North Fulton High School in 1937. He then attended the University of Georgia and graduated valedictorian of his class and a member of The Phi Beta Kappa Society. He was a member of the Boxing and Swimming team as well as the social fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon. After graduating from the University of Georgia he received his commission in the Army Air Corps as a flight instructor. After the war he returned to Atlanta and continued in his family business, The Atlanta Stove Works. In 1948 he moved to Thomasville and became Sales Manager of Georgia Crate and Basket Company. He became President of Georgia Crate in 1966 and served in this capacity until he retired in 1995. Mr. Jones was a past President of the Thomasville Rotary Club, on the Board of Directors of the Everett-Milton YMCA, Thomasville City Schools, the Commercial Bank in Thomasville, and Bank South in Atlanta. He was also on the Board of Directors of Atlanta Stove Works and Birmingham Stove and Range. He served multiple terms as President of the Wirebound Box Manufactures Association. He served the community in many ways, but his passions were the YMCA and teaching Sunday School at Saint Thomas Episcopal Church and later at All Saints Episcopal Church. The things that he was most proud of were his loving wife, his children and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Connie Jones, his children Connie and Bill Floyd, Dorothy and George Wrigley, Bo and Kathy Jones, Mike and Tracy Jones. His grandchildren include Bill and Rey Floyd, Blair and Ben Bleiman, Kendall and Katherine Wrigley, Bo Jones, Morgan and Kevin Plosser, and Maizie Jones. His great-grandchildren include, Chase Floyd and Emma and Grayson Bleiman. Other survivors include his brother Saunders and sister-in-law Emily Jones. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, October 4 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Thomasville. There will be a gathering for family and friends in the Parish Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Everett-Milton YMCA, P.O. Box 1035, Thomasville, Georgia 31799. Guests may sign the online register at www.allenfh.com
