Family-Placed Death Notice
PENLAND, Harold, Jr. Harold Penland, Jr., age 63, of Kennesaw passed away Monday, July 30, 2012. Born July 20, 1949 in Houston, TX, son of the late Harold Penland, Sr. and Rosealie Penland. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and received numerous medals for his heroism. Survived by wife, Terry Penland; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Brendan LaSalle; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Patricia Penland; mother, Rosealie Penland; siblings, Diane and Donald Long, Hester and Jackie Brooks, Deborah and Martin Abbott, Phyllis Howell, Thomas Penland, Patrick Penland, Peter Penland; one grandchild, Kelbie Penland and several nieces and nephews. Viewing at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglasville, Friday, August 3, 2012 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. Funeral Services will follow at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in The Georgia National Cemetery, 1:30 PM. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynnn.com. Hester, I am your cousin. My dad was Willis Penland. So sorry to hear about Harold. He will always be Little Harold to me. When I lived with our grangmother in NC from 55-56, we played together whenever your Mom and dad visited from Marietta. We always seem to get in trouble when together. I got his phone number from your Mom three months ago but forgot to call him, then found his obit. So sorry I did not. Last time I saw you, you were just a baby or maybe I just heard about you. So many years ago now, I cannot remember. I do remember Debra from back then. I think we visited your House in Kennesaw back in early 70s with my Dad and know you come from a large family but can only remember the three of you. With Love, Ron.

I just did a search for Harold to check on him and found his obituary. Words cannot express my feelings of sorrow at his death. He was my one playmate when I lived in NC back in mid 50s. I wish now I had called him a couple of months ago when i talked to Rosalei. I will always remember the time we had together so many years ago at our Grandparents house. RIP Little Harold! So sorry the years took us apart.

Dearest Aunt Rosealie and family, I am praying you tangibly feel God's comfort as you walk through these next few days. I'm confident He will flood your hearts with the perfect memory at the perfect time, special and specific to each one of you. You raised someone who was special to so many of us and we grieve at the loss of him. I know Chad and Kelbie will continue to show glimpses of what you sowed into Harold. I love you, Christina
