I just learned about the passing of Dr. Ed Cliburn. My deepest sympathy to his whole family. My father and he went to Mercer together many years ago. Next to my father (Paul Moody), who was waiting at Heaven's gate to greet him, Dr. Cliburn was such a Godly man. Condolences from my mother (Virginia Moody) and me. August 15, 2014

I very much enjoyed sharing Langdon Family history with Dr. Cliburn over the years. He was able to share with me info about my great aunt and also add so many stories to my tours at Historic Columbus which I enjoyed sharing with so many people from all over the world. I will miss him.

Dear family and friends,

As a friend of the family in Columbus, I can say that all of us will miss Ed Cliburn greatly. I got to know him through his sister, Helen. He knew more about Columbus history and our church, FBC, Columbus, than anyone else I know. Helen already misses his calls, help, and advice.

A giant has fallen not only in the history of the GA Baptist Convention, but in the city of Thomaston and in the city of Columbus.

Our prayers are with the family and all who knew him. There will not be another like him.
