Lowell Grenon Obituary

Happy Birthday
Lowell
6/18/1979 - 5/27/2010

Lowell Robert Grenon was born June 18, 1979 in Thousand Oaks, Calif., to Joann Meacham and Robert Richard Grenon (1939-1994), died May 27, 2010 in Auburn and buried June 7, 2010 in New Auburn Cemetery, Auburn, Calif.
As a young boy he grew up in Tollhouse, California attending Auberry Elementary School, Foothill Middle School and Sierra High School.
As young as four or five years old Lowell developed the love of helping other people. He was outgoing and friendly to all with whom he came in contact. As a young man in his 20's an example of Lowell's care and concern for others, if he encountered a person in need of shoes or a coat, his friends said he would take the shoes off of his feet or the coat off of his back to give to this person in need.
Lowell loved the out-of-doors: as a child camping with his family and as a teenager 60 mile hikes and a hike to the top of Mt. Whitney with the Boy Scouts. At the age of 20 and following in his father's foot steps the real passion for the outdoors surfaced, he spent three years working for the California Conservation Corps. During that time he lived in the back country for six months camping, hiking, clearing old trails, making new trails and keeping the river clean to maintain the habitat for the fish.
While in the back country he learned photography and captured many beautiful shots of water falls, majestic mountain peaks, lakes, and open fields with flowers and trees as a back drop. After he completed his service with the C.C.C. he moved to Auburn to live with his mother and his brothers, Joe and Mike.
Lowell divided his time between two professions, landscaping and house painting. He took pride in helping his Aunt Jeannie. He maintained her yards and gardens in both her Newcastle rental home and the Auburn home in which she lives. He painted the exterior of her Newcastle home and a deck and fence of her rental property.
Lowell's loves and passions included time with his family and friends, his dog Bosco, photography, disc golfing, BBQing and being the cook, "hanging out" on the American River, maintenance and odd jobs for his mom and Aunt Jeannie and "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica.

Miss Me But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set me free,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free,
Miss me a little...But not too long, And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me...but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take,
And each must go alone,
It's all part of the master's plan,
A step on the road to home,
So when you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friend we know,
And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds,
Miss me...But let me go.
Edgar Albert Guest

Dear Family and Friends,

I am very sorry to hear about Lowell. As a graduate of Sierra High School in 1998, I also attended Auberry Elementary and Foothill Middle School with Lowell. I will always remember him playing basketball, soccer, or tetherball with such passion! If you were nice to Lowell, he was just as nice back. I also remember such a wonderful smile! When I signed into the internet today I felt the need to google Sierra High School, and this page is what I found. If these words can provide some comfort then this writing will have served it's purpose. Lowell will be fondly remembered and greatly missed!

Sincerely,
Jacob Leighton Smedley

Dear Grenon Family and friends,

I had the great fortune to spend the summer of 1999 with Lowell in Kings Canyon National Park and the Inyo National Forest as the crew supervisor of Lowell's CCC Backcountry Trail Crew. I will always remember Lowell for his kindness, his strong work ethic, his love of family, and his knowledge and enthusiasm for nature and the mountains. He was an endearing member of our backcountry community who always made us laugh and think.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.

God Bless,

Mike Gaffney

To Lowell's family, although I never met Lowell I want to let you know how much the CCC Backcountry program appreciated his service to our program. It is a special program and not everyone is cut out for the rigors of 6 months of hard work in the Mountains. Lowell's love for the mountains and community made him a perfect fit for our program, and all of us in the Backcountry family offer our deepest sympathy.
