Bertha Johnson Obituary

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Funeral Services for Mrs. Bertha Cook Johnson, 93, of Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest April 3, 2012, will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. Interment in Graniteville Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Graniteville, a former resident of Jonesboro, Georgia, having made North Augusta her home for the past seven years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Graniteville and the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, where she served as the Director of the Women's Missionary Union. Mrs. Johnson had a passion for children and began teaching Sunday School at the age of 16. She was the wife of the late Mr. Clarence O. Johnson, Sr. Survivors include a daughter, Linda L. Johnson, North Augusta; two sons and their wives, Clarence and Laura Johnson, Jr., Fayetteville, GA and Sidney and Pamela Johnson, McDonough, GA; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, WMU Missions, 147 Church Street, Jonesboro, GA 30236 or First Baptist Church of North Augusta Children's Center, 625 Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC 29841.
